Emperor Qinshihuang came to what is now Qinhuangdao on his eastern inspection tour in 215 BC and worshiped the sea for elixirs Restored in 1991, the Shrine of Emperor Qinshihuang Seeking Elixirs presents the culture of Qin Dynasty and historic orgin of Qinhuangdao. Located in Haigang District, the 19-hectare scenic area condenses the crucial historical events and folklore of the Warring States period, taking the clue of Emperor Qinshihuang’s inspection tour and the background of the history that seven states of the time fought to conquer each other. The scenic area illustrates the brilliant scene of Emperor Qinshihuang sending his men on boats to the sea for elixirs, a 2000-year-old event that echoes brilliantly through history to this day. The Shrine of Emperor Qinshihuang Seeking Elixirs also offers soft sandy beaches, gentle winds from the sea, and beautiful sea view for a pleasant memory.
