Geographical Location: Leaning against Yanshan Mountain to the north and facing Baohai Sea on the south, Qinhuangdao is in the northeastern part of Hebei Province, at the junction point of Northeast China and North China economic areas. The city is known as a bridge head of the new Euro-Asian continental bridge. Origin of the name: Emperor Qinshihuang, China's first emperor came here in BC 215 on his eastward inspection tour. The place therefore got its name and became China's only city named after an emperor. Administrative Division: The city has under its jurisdiction three urban districts of Beidaihe, Shanhaiguan and Haigang; four counties of Funing, Changli, Lulong and Qinglong Manchu Autonomous County; and a state-level economic & technological development zone. Population: 2.805 million, 776 thousand of which live in urban areas.is urban population.
